FREEDOM OF RELIGION ACCORDING TO HENRYNUS AMIN OF PARTY ANAK NEGERI

Dr Edwin Bosi posing with his entry form to Party Anak Negeri for the second time with Party President Datuk Henrynus Amin at Buhavan Square Donggongon on 2 November 2017

PENAMPANG. Freedom of religion means you can convert to Islam, you can come back, period. For  Semenanjung we don’t want to comment, but Sabah and Sarawak there is that covenant at the Batu Sumpah and religion is a state matter. We respect Islam as the state religion, this one we cannot change.” Datuk Henrynus Amin, President of Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri was interviewed personally after press conference announcing former DAP assemblyman for Kepayan Dr. Edwin Bosi formally joining the party at Donggongon today Thursday. He also refered to the 2nd point of their 5-point core objective of his party.
When asked if the party had assisted any victims of NCR land grab, Henrynus confirmed that at Ulu Sugut in Ranau, 3000 acres of NCR land being occupied by the natives there were given to a company complete with titles. The natives have brought the matter to court and also approached the party for some assistance, he said.
Regarding the term “Anak Negeri” to qualify as members of the party, he said any genuine citizen born in Sabah is considered as one. The party also proposed to have Residence Registration in Sabah with confirmation from village heads or Town Council Presidents. This may require amendment to local government laws so that Majlis Daerah can register their own people and help strengthen the JKKKs, JKDB and the Majlis Daerah themselves.
Regarding the symbolic handing over of Dr. Bosi’s entry form under the statue of Datuk Peter Mojuntin, Henrynus said the struggles by the Golden Son of Kadazan were unfinished and the party intends to continue with them. “We are not taking over him from his family but we are inspired by his legacy and his struggles for the people are public property”, he said.

Henrynus also said his party will continue to call for the removal of the ban on the book " Golden Son of Kadazan"  which is the life story of Datuk Peter Mojuntin and his struggle against islamisation of all Sabahans by former Chief Minister the late Tun Mustapah Harun.

When asked when the next general election would be, Henrynus said it is possible next March. He also advised the people not to be confused with the many parties in Sabah as they have only three groups to choose from namely BN, Gabungan Sabah and Pakatan Harapan. He said Parti Anak Negeri totally rejects the SSKM group or whoever talks about leaving Malaysia and only believes in the rules of laws.
Henrynus declines to give any indications on the number of candidates his party will contest but to wait for surprises as they are still in communication with other friendly parties. However Dr Edwin is confirmed to be heading the Penampang branch. The party has currently 10 branches and the minimum members for a branch is 30 however 5000 forms have already been received in the interior, said Henrynus.

Regarding suggestions to make miniature models of the Batu Sumpah as pen and pencil holders for offices or hollow coin saving bank for kids, he said that is a very good idea. Don't know if his party will get any local manufacturers to make them for sale yet.

PENAMPANG. It was a 11km run with a difference when more than 300 participants was set off by CLEAR President Winnie Jimis at 6:30 am from Kg Mahandoi Jetty. The route was the usual village roads however as the runners went through the Kodundungan Padi fields along a semi-polluted drain named Parit Juta, the runners were required to throw at least one mudball into the dirty water.
Fastest runner 50 year old Guianus Salagan was the first to arrive 30 minutes later and cheerfully hurled a few balls into the canal.
Later other runners who joined the run more for fun and exercise paused for a few minutes to hurl bags of mudballs while District Officer Luvita Koisun watched and explained that the balls can assist in cleaning up the drain and hopefully protect the nearby river.
Also participating in the run was favourite Kadazan radio DJ Johanna Joseph Lokupi who was in a hurry to finish the race.
Winnie from the environmental NGO CLEAR said people are still puzzled how the mudballs can help clean up the dirty water, hence an exhibition booth will be set up during the coming bamboo raft festival at Kg Terawi Jetty on 24th this month. The public can learn they too can start treating waste water from their homes and help revive the River Moyog.
She informed the mudballs with three types of waste eating bacteria were previously contributed by students of SMK Bahang and St Michael’s, the Village Security Safety Committee JKKK of Nosoob Baru and Kivatu Nature Farm who supplied the effective microbe EM1 concentrate. The same microbes can also be used to speed up the preparation of agricultural compost.
The winners of the run were, Male Veteran: Guianus Salagan. He was previously a famous runner for the Mt Kinabalu international run.
Veteran Women: Kona Liau, Male Open: Muhd Azlan, Women open: Britanny Isabelle
All winners were rewarded with cash prizes and certificates.

GOVERNMENT WILL TAKE ACTION ON POLLUTERS IF THERE IS A REPORT: DATUK MASIDI MANJUN

Pix: From left: Steering committee members Seanundu Kely Jitilon, Suzyline Kimkee, Rollis Mitol, Winnie Jimis, Luvita, Masidi, Vitalis and ministry staff.

KOTA KINABALU. Tourism, Culture and Environment minister Datuk Masidi Manjun assured that the government will take action on any river polluter provided a report has been submitted. He said this after receiving a courtesy call by the steering committee for Penampang Bamboo Raft Festival led by District Officer Luvita Koisun, Tuesday. The event will be held for 2 days on 23rd and 24th September at Kg Terawi Jetty where the minister himself will officiate since the ministry also provided funds this year.
The event was inititated in 2012 by environmental NGOs to campaign to the public the need to revive and protect the Moyog River against pollution. In 2016 Luvita saw the potential of the event and declared it a district event with full support of NGOs and community leaders such as village chiefs and Village Security and Development Committees (JKKK) while Masidi urged the district to turn the river into a tourism attraction.
However certain irresponsible parties still continue to pollute the river causing the water to be extremely muddy and dirty after rain.
During the meeting, Masidi also urged that small towns and villages such as Kasigui with a rich historical background should also be developed for tourism purposes.
Also present during the courtesy call was Vitalis Moduying, Deputy Director of State Department of Environment.
