The Archbishop of Kota Kinabalu Most Rev. John Wong proudly ordained a second priest within a week.
Deacon Mitchelly Kiun was ordained priest on 26th February at Sacred Heart Cathedral, where he used to serve as an altar boy. Born on 26 Sept 1980, he is the second child of Kiun Solidou and Jenny Liew Yung Ngan from Kg. Kopungit, KK. His early education was at SRJK Chung Hua and KK High School and is fluent in 4 languages, English, Bahasa, KDM and Chinese. His first assignment will be at St Catherine Church Inanam.
With his ordination as priest, the Rector of Sacred Heart Msgr. Primus Jouil announced that the archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu now have 37 members of the clergy including 2 bishops and 2 deacons, a small number compared to the needs of the growing community.
No notable dignitary was present during the ceremony but the cathedral was filled beyond capacity.
