Jeoffrey Ekol (right) and family clan members launching the 5th Edition of Family tree book
One for the album, about 308 out of a total 1415 traced in the generation gathered at KDCA open stage on Sunday 16 Jun 2019
According to leader of the research team, Jeoffrey Ekol, the family tree book was produced from the memories of the 2nd generation of Suoh and Longgisi whose graves were located at the Nosoob Baru graveyards.
So far, a total of 1415 members of the clans were traced from all over the world including US, UK, Germany and Australia
The 5th edition of the book is now 580 pages.
The clan has produced one magistrate judge, plenty of professionals such as doctors and lawyers and notably plenty of singers.
Another interesting member is an expatriate who has married into the clan and now is a permanent resident cum citizen of Sabah. Ian Curley is now a perfect Kadazan able to speak in the language and even beat the gongs just like any native of Sabah.

ITS IMPORTANT TO CARE FOR ENVIRONMENT AND CATCHMENT: YB Jenifer Lasimbang
by Oswald Sugat
PENAMPANG. The 5th International World Water Day held here is to give wide knowledge to the young generation on the importance of caring for the environment and catchment as our source of water. Assemblywoman for Moyog Jenifer Lasimbang said this when opening the event held at Kampung Terawi River Jetty and Open Stage Saturday 23rd March 2019.
Holistic community program includes fun runs, zhumba exercises, fishing competition and colouring ompetition for young school children helps to achieve these goals, she said.
The Vetiver grass planted near the river bank has very deep roots up to 6 meters not only protect the banks from erosion but can also clean up the water, she said. At the same time the fibre from the grass can be woven into bags and hats so we are planting these for the future, she added
During the drought season, the Water Department has been sending clean water supply to remote villages which were previously relying on gravity. We are also looking into alternative source of supply such as ground water, therefore it is very important not to pollute the environment, she concluded.
Earlier, MPKK chairman David Kimkee thank the District Office for trusting the village to hold the event for the fifth time for community awareness of the importance of water as our source of life and as well as sponsors including Sabah Drone, Tritonics, telco and motor care companies. The theme for the celebration was " Leaving no one behind"
Meanwhile, deputy director of DID Miklin Ationg said the draft Rules and Regulation for the Water Catchment Protection Ordinance is currently being studied by the State Attorney while the Main Ordinance 1998 also needs to be amended to suit the additional Rules.

WE NEED MORE MALE VOLUNTEERS : PCA or Palliative Care Association of KK
21st Feb 2019
by Oswald Sugat
Jefrey and Michael from PAKA presenting a gift to a patient from Penampang while President of PCA Rokiah looked on
For the albums..
PENAMPANG. The Palliative Care Association (PCA) of Kota Kinabalu
President Rokiah Yaacob and Deputy Liza Yong said male volunteers are
most needed to provide palliative/hospice care to patients with
incurable cancer in and around Kota Kinabalu.
They said this
during a Charity Campaign visit by kindness NGO, PAKA led by Jefrey
Leiking, thursday and to deliver gifts to all patient visiting the day
care centre at Taman Rose, Jalan Penampang.
At present the
President and committee members are mostly women with medical background
who have retired, however there are a few lay volunteers. More males
would be much welcome as their strength would be needed sometimes to
help patients, however she stress that caring is not just on health but
on the well being of the patients. She said their volunteers are from
all walks of life such as lawyers, cooks, pilots, barbers amongst others
because the activities at the day care centre include handicraft,
gardening, haircare, karaoke but the most popular is massage and bingo.
Sometimes we even arrange a visit such as chocolate factory and to the
beach for them and some patients even tell that they have not seen the
beach for years, she added.
At present the day care center
only accepts the patients who are mobile, once a week on Thursday where
they could be served home made breakfast. Whoever they are, we care for
their quality of life until the last moments, she said in reference to
the aims of the association.
Regarding the brief
background of the association, Rokiah said it was founded by Datuk Dr
Ranjit and registered in 1998. Fundraising are carried out every year
and some grants are given by the government as well as Corporate
sectors. All donors are welcomed which are tax exempted. The service of
PCA are free of charge around 10 km while visits to homes are extended
to 30 km and they have extended the service to Tuaran area. The cases
are now not limited to cancer but also on other terminal diseases while
their is no age limit, she said. Welcoming the visit by PAKA, Rokiah
hope they can also be the ambassador of the PCA and tell the public what
palliative care is all about. In response Jefrey said the gifts
delivered are from private individual donor such as C.C.Vun apart from
the MP office.

HUMAN ANGELS AT WORK says MP Datuk Darell Leiking
PENAMPANG. "The Faith Caring Home is a place where
Human Angels are doing God's work for all," says MP and Minister of
International Trade Industry Datuk Darell Leiking after visiting the
centre at Limbanak Sunday.
He presented donations, supplies
and personal items to female intellectually challenged trainees staying
at the centre accompanied by the Penampang Act of Kindness Association
led by Jefrey Leiking.
Meanwhile, Pastor Avis Chong the lady
behind the realisation of this home said this is the first time a full
minister visited at his own time without official event giving joy and
motivation to everyone.
The establishment of this
rehabilitation home started with a humble beginning in 2008 after the
pastor witnessed a classmate ending in tragedy due mental distress. The
new home operated by volunteers lies in a secluded area with a quiet but
serenely beautiful hills surrounded with flowers and vegetables
operated by the trainees, which is conducive for healing and recovery
process.
Recently another building has just been completed which will house male trainees as well as provide many other needed facilitiesFOR THE ALBUMS... kio
